Non-domestic BER Qualification Complete

Yvonne Brady has successfully completed the qualifying exam for non domestic Building Energy rating. She is currently awaiting registration on the SEI registered assessor data base. She is now qualified to carry out both domestic and non domestic energy assessments.

As part of the EU Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD), a Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate, which is effectively an energy label, will be required at the point of sale or rental of a building, or on completion of a new building. The implementation dates for this new regulation are as follows:

  1. 1 January 2007 BER of new dwellings.
  2. 1 July 2008 - BER of new non-domestic buildings for which planning permission is applied on/after that date. Transitional BER exemptions will apply to new non-domestic buildings for which planning permission is applied on or before 30th June 2008 provided the new non-domestic buildings involved are substantially completed by 30th June 2010.
  3. 1 January 2009 - BER of existing buildings and existing non domestic dwellings, when offered for sale or rent
